A Resource Long Overdue

For decades, Black and Black-affiliated performing arts entities in Chicago have operated without a unified platform to showcase their work, connect with audiences, and support one another. Artists, organizations, and community members have struggled to discover the breadth and depth of Black artistic excellence across our city—from theatre companies to dance ensembles, music collectives to literary organizations. This gap represents more than a missed opportunity. It's a barrier to community development, collaboration, and the visibility that Black arts organizations deserve.

Our Solution

BACACHI exists to fill this void. We are establishing ourselves as the definitive resource and go-to source for Black performing arts in Chicago—a centralized directory and alliance where organizations can be found, celebrated, and connected to the resources and audiences they need to thrive.
